DESCRIPTION:Do you have broken household items that you were planning to throw away? Instead\, bring it to Fix It Fun! Fix It Fun\, a free community repair event\, will take place on Saturday\, November 9\, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bennington Free Library\, 101 Silver Street\, Bennington. Bring a clean broken household item and one of our fixers will do their best to help repair it for free. \nFix It Fun is the second annual event co-sponsored by the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance and the Bennington Free Library. Community repair events reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill by promoting repair and reuse. Instead of throwing items away\, we can appreciate the value in our possessions by reusing them\, which saves money and resources\, and contributes to a more sustainable society. \nVolunteer fixers are needed to fix household items that community members bring for repair. All kinds of fixers are welcome\, including clothing and fabric\, small appliances\, small furniture\, toys\, electrical items\, jewelry\, and more! The Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance is offering a free educational event presented in partnership with the Bennington Free Library on Saturday\, January 27\, 2024 at 10AM at the Bennington Free Library\, 101 Silver Street\, Bennington\, Vermont.  \nThe event led by the Alliance’s Outreach Program Manager\, John Pitroff\, will provide information on what landlords and property managers need to know to be in compliance with Vermont’s Recycling Law (Act 148) and Rental Health Code. Materials will be available to educate tenants on proper waste sorting and tips to reduce odors and mess. She will be available to answer questions from the audience.
